Randy "Big R" Hicks

Randy “Big R” Hicks, 73, was born December 11, 1950 in Oak Grove (Austin) on his family farm to Kenneth and Margie Lee Hicks. He entered the gates of heaven on May 2, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was a faithful member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and wanted all to know Jesus as their Savior. He served as Oak Grove Cemetery Secretary/Treasurer. “Hickory Nut” retired from Remington Arms after 40 years as an industrial mechanic. He could fix anything proving that time and again on the farm. He was always quick with a joke and to share a good story. He loved visiting with families at Hicks Family Farms.  He was a charter member of the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Sandy (Durnal) Hicks; his parents; his brother, J.L. Hicks; daughter-in-law, Jaime (Shepherd) Hicks; and stepdaughter, Bridget (Gunter) McElhaney.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Vicki (Menard) Hicks; daughter, Tanya Shea Hicks; sons, Scott & Shannon Hicks and Kevin & Beka Hicks. Papaw adored his grandchildren, Matt (Emma) Hicks; Allison (Zach) Potter; Cody Hicks; David Brigman; Loren and Cullen Cruse; Ariel McElhaney; Ashley, Morgan, and Cadence Taylor. He treasured his great grandchildren, Maddox Potter, Emberly Brigman, and Odin Chapman. His sister, Duffie & Kenneth Gibson; brother, Bennie & Lyn Hicks; and sister, Nelda & Clarence Harwell. His stepchildren, Chip & Kristi Gunter and Stephanie Taylor. Many family and friends. 

Visitation will be at Smith Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe from 5-8 pm on May 6, 2024. Funeral will be 3 pm Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Austin with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
