Listen to Obituary

Randy "Papaw: Johnson, born on May 28, 1955, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to his family and community.

He was a faithful member of Caney Valley Missionary Baptist Church and a proud member of the Shawmut Hilton Hunting Club, where he spent many moments doing what he loved. Randy was a hardworking man who built a life through determination, he started his own plumbing business which would be passed down through generations.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Verna Jean Johnson.

Randy shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Tena, who he married in 1975. Together, they built a family that was the center of his world. He is survived and remembered by his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Quinn; his children, Jamie and Jaime, Doug and Valarie, and Chance and Michelle; his 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren, all of who he loved deeply.

A devoted family man, Papaw never missed a moment—whether it was ballgames, graduations, weddings, or everyday milestones. He coached and umpired many of his children’s and grandchildren’s teams, always offering guidance, encouragement, and a steady presence. From teaching how to swing a bat to learning how to drive a truck, his lessons went far beyond the field.

Papaw’s greatest joy was spending time at Shawmut, being surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and of course, the time spent with his wife. His life was a testament to dedication, humor, and unconditional love.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Pallbearers will be Hayden Johnson, Bill Tolleson, Kenny Womack, Al Waldo, Chad Stewart, and Chris Johnson.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Jonna Alexander with Elite Hospice for your loving care.
