Reba Beatrice McDaniel, 96, of Little Rock, Arkansas, formally of Marked Tree, Arkansas, ended her incredible earthly journey on June 30, 2013.
She was born in Ethel, Mississippi, on October 29, 1916, to H.T. and Ada Lansdale. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Bessie Pinkston and a brother, Morris Lansdale. She was married to Edwin Lois McDaniel, who preceded her in death in 1982.
Reba received her Cosmetology degree in Jonesboro, Arkansas and opened Reba's Beauty Shop which she operated for 64 years in Marked Tree. In the year 2000, she retired and moved to Little Rock and Woodland Heights became her home. While residing there, she was asked to come out of retirement and work as a hair stylist for the Woodland Heights community for nine more years.
Reba found her love for golf at the age of 65. She was a medalist winner for ten years in the Senior Golf Olympics. She made 3 hole-in-ones during her years of golf. At 93, she officially retired from golf and her profession.
Reba is survived by two daughters, Veda Dorethea Michaels of Adamstown, Virginia and Brenda Cate-Clark of Little Rock, Arkansas. During her lifetime, she was "Mema Marked Tree" to her seven grandchildren: Trillion Wright-Johnson of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Matthew Stuart Baker, deceased, Dr. Kenneth Lee Cate, Jr., of Dayton Beach, Florida, Susan Rene' Drake of Fort Worth, Texas, Pamela Cate Wood of Rogers, Arkansas, Dr. Chris McDaniel Cate of Little Rock, Arkansas and Caroline Skinner of Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was Great Mema to three.
Reba was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a woman of style, great strength and integrity, who had a positive attitude and a passion for living life to the fullest.
The family will gather for the interment in Marked Tree, Arkansas.
