Rebecca Brown Blass

Rebecca (Becky) Brown Blass passed away surrounded by her loved ones on August 30, 2023, after a lengthy, hard-fought battle with lung cancer.

Becky was born on October 10, 1951, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Janis Marie McDaniel and Robert Brown.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Cynthia Brown Lager.

Becky is survived by her husband, Gus; son, Alex and daughter-in-law, Lauren; and grandchildren, Bennett, Bowen and Leighton Blass. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Pat Blass, sister-in-law Connie O’Neil of Dallas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews across seven states.

Becky graduated 5th in her class from Central High School in 1969.  She received a full scholarship to Wellesley; however, she decided to stay in Little Rock to help support her family. Becky attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and graduated in 1973.

While at the University of Arkansas, she was a proud member of Chi Omega where she held several offices, including President, and served on the House Corporation for more than 30 years.  She was selected a Trojan beauty and was active in several campus organizations.

Becky earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the Bowen School of Law in Little Rock.  After law school, she clerked for Judge Don Corbin, who was a Justice on the Arkansas Court of Appeals. Later, she clerked for Judge Dale Prince on the Arkansas Supreme Court. In 2018, Governor Asa Hutchinson appointed her to serve as Special Justice on the Arkansas Supreme Court.

Becky served on the Trinity Episcopal School Board, YWCA as President and the UALR Foundation where she also served as President.  She was recognized with the Presidents Award from UALR in 2021.

Becky was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed immensely. She cared deeply about her family, friends, and her dogs. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all her caregivers for their excellent care and support throughout Becky’s cancer journey.
