Listen to Obituary

Regina Ann French, 76, of Maumelle, AR went to meet the Lord on December 8, 2025. She was born on December 19, 1948, in Doniphan, MO. She was the daughter of the late Ewell and Oldean (Jones) Abshier.

She loved her Lord and family. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Regina was a graduate of Maynard High School, class of 1966. She then attended and graduated from Jonesboro Business College. She enjoyed a long career in the financial industry before retirement. She was into genealogy and was always looking for her relatives all over the world. She had traced her family back to the Mayflower.

She married the love of her life, Gary French, on April 17, 1976. They had 49 wonderful years together. They loved to travel. They went on several Mission Trips together including going to China and Brazil. They were able to visit the Holy Lands with their Church family.

Survivors include her husband, Gary French; brother Larry (Karren) Abshier and sister Dian Van Ness; several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Even though she had no children of her own, her nephew Chaz Van Ness considered her his second Mom.

We would like to extend a special thanks to Joe and Wanda Gerke, Tina Johnson and Merry Mae Smith for all the visits with Regina and Gary.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Immanuel Baptist Chapel, Little Rock. She will be entombed at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Alexander, AR at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, which was one of her favorite charities.

Honorary Pallbearers are Carl Harris, Jr., Terry Rapert, Terry Jo Jones, Eddie Jones, Joe Gerke, and Larry Abshier, as well as her nieces and nephews, and her childhood cousins that she loved dearly.
