Retha L. Lawry, mother, sister and friend extraordinaire died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Baptist Medical Center, Little Rock, Arkansas. A St. Patrick's day baby, born March 17, 1936, she left us 25 days short of her 77th birthday.
Many will remember Retha as the red headed lady that managed several restaurants in the Little Rock area including The Kettle, Golden Griddle, JoJo's and Embassy Suites. She was a proud Arkansas sports fan that loved anything Razorback as well as a Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd D. and Mary A. Taylor and her brother, Wayne Taylor. She is survived by three sons, Larry Taylor of Malvern, James and Gary Lawry of Little Rock; four sisters, Verval Alexander and Rena (Thomas) Kirkpatrick of Little Rock, Marilyn Younts and Joann (Wayne) Tucker of Perryville; special family member, Ann Whitley (Bill), three grandsons; three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and many wonderful friends. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
A gathering and celebration of her life will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, a Smith Family Funeral Home. A visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday before the service at the funeral home.
