Retha Weaver

Retha Weaver, age 92 of Searcy Arkansas, passed away early Saturday morning, November 11, 2017. Retha will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter Della Weaver Badders, son-in-law Larry Badders, granddaughter LaceeKee Werdehausen, grandson- in-law Russell Werdehausen, sisters-in-law Phyllis McKee and Louise McKee and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Doyal Weaver and 8 siblings.
Retha was born in Pine Tree (Wynne), Arkansas on January 24, 1925, the eighth child of James Edward McKee and Effie Pearl McKee. At 17 years old, she left home to join the household of her brother and sister-in- law, Gene and Dorothy McKee in southern California. This move changed the direction of Retha's life when, on December 31, 1944, she met the Love of Her Life, Doyal Weaver, while working at a Downey Defense Plant. Retha and Doyal married the following February 26, 1945 in Yuma, Arizona.
More significantly, through her marriage to Doyal, Retha entered into another relationship that defines her present home. Under the ministry of her niece and nephew-in-law, Reverend Clinton and Vivian Goines, Retha became a born again Christian in the 1960's.
Retha cherished her many roles as a wife, mother, Nana, mother-in-law, aunt, sister, friend, chef, gardener, foster mother, nurse, seamstress, embroidery hobbyist, counselor, painter, homemaker, encourager, and "straightforward advisor", but foremost as a Christian. Her monetary compensation wasn't the highest, but the benefits were out of this world.
