It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Riaz A. Khan (my Abu), who left us peacefully on September 16th, 2024. Born in 1936 in Hoshairpur, India, Abu was a remarkable man whose life was filled with joy, love, and a profound commitment to his family and friends.
As an accomplished engineer and organizer, Abu dedicated his life to his work and to uplifting those around him. He was not just an uncle; he was a father and grandfather figure, embodying the essence of support and encouragement. His warmth and wisdom enriched the lives of many, particularly in the cherished memories shared with his loved ones.
I will never forget my childhood memories, whether it was playing cricket with a soft ball to be quiet while playing, or celebrating shabbat with fireworks, or going to bakra mandi on Eid. Not even a single youm-e-aashura when he will not take us to see the jaloos, and he would always buy us ice cream on the way back.
Abu always dreamed of seeing his loved ones thrive, encouraging them to pursue their aspirations. He took great pride in witnessing me become a doctor, and i am so happy to know that he has welcomed the new life of my son into this world.
While we mourn the loss of Abu, today we together also celebrate a life well-lived and the eternal peaceful and happy life he has gone to live. His spirit, love, and legacy will remain in our hearts forever. Though he has moved on to a place beyond our understanding, I find peace in knowing he is close to his Creator; Allah almighty.
He will be profoundly missed, but his love will continue to guide us. Thank you, Abu, for everything.
Jahanzeb Khan.
