Richard Doyle Hobbs

Richard Doyle "Rick" Hobbs, 66, of Donaldson, Arkansas, passed from this life on January 17,2024, at CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs. Rick was born January 19,1957, in Iowa City, Iowa. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pat Hobbs DeRossit; his father, Everett W. Hobbs and one sister, Jody Boldt. 

Rick proudly served his country in The United States Navy for twenty-one years. He served on as many as nine ships including The USS Kittyhawk and The USS Shasta. Rick was never one to boast or brag on himself, but not many people can say that they earned three bronze stars while serving. Rick had a heart of gold, and he was a hero to all who knew and loved him. 

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Brenda Hobbs of Donaldson; his son, Joshua Hobbs of Hot Springs; three daughters: Jennifer, Kelly and Lindsay Hobbs all of California; two step daughters that he loved like his very own: Mandy (Chad) Ledbetter of Donaldson and Alicia (Chris) Arnold Yarbrough of Sparkman; his step-son, Martin Hall of Hot Springs; three step-grandchildren: Dillon (Haley) Ledbetter of Arkadelphia, Devon Ledbetter of Donaldson and Arron Malcom of Whelen Springs; eight great grandchildren that he loved and adored: Asa, Maddox and Charli Grace Ledbetter and John, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Isabella and Ryder Malcom; one sister, Mista (John) Henry of Hot Springs; a brother, David Hobbs of Hot Springs; an aunt, Sharon Riese, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Rick’s visitation will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at Ruggles Wilcox Chapel with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with U.S. Navy military honors. Brother Jeff Ladd will officiate the service. 

The family will have a private burial service at a later date. 

Honorary pallbearers are Joshua Douglas (JD), Rob Dean and all of his former Shipmates.
