Mike Lewis, 72, passed away peacefully on Feb. 14, 2026 after a short battle with kidney cancer, surrounded by his children and wife. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Richard Edgar and Jacquelyn Massery Lewis.
To his family, Mike was a steady presence; a protector, a teacher and a storyteller, always giving advice, telling jokes, fixing things, and offering encouragement. His hobbies included participating in living histories as part of the Trans Mississippi Volunteer Infantry Civil War reenacting community, and more recently as an enthusiastic square dancer. He and his wife, Ellen were members of the Twirling Lariates and the Maverick Mixers.
Mike is survived by his wife, Ellen Glover Lewis; his mother Jacquelyn Lewis; two brothers, Thomas and Donald (Deborah) Lewis; his children, Ryan (Braddon) Lewis, Katie (Ricky) Lovesee, and Mathew (Kallie) Lewis; grandchildren, Paige, Jax, Mathias, Noah Claire, Justus, and Adalai Rose.
A celebration of life will be held March 28, 3:00-5:00pm at the American Legion Hall in Mabelvale, AR. A re-enactor's military memorial salute will be held Nov. 7 in Prescott, AR. All are welcome to both events honoring Mike.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we are comforted by the countless memories, lessons and love Mike leaves behind. As a child, he was known for his adventurous and inquisitive nature, a trait that would define him throughout his life. As a husband, he was a steady and devoted partner, offering unwavering support and a love that made a life shared feel safe. His laughter, wisdom and warmth filled every room and made ordinary moments feel meaningful. These moments will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
While we grieve his absence, we celebrate the life he lived, a life marked by love, hard work, compassion and humor. The lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the memories he created will continue to guide us long after his passing.
Though we must say goodbye for now, we hold close the comfort of knowing that love does not end, it simply changes form.
