Robert B. Alexander

Robert B. Alexander, age 81, of Norman, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016. He was born on June 18, 1934 in Prescott, the son of Fred David Alexander, Sr. and Georgia Peterson Alexander. On August 22, 1975, he was married to Nelda Cogburn. He was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from International Paper Company in Gurdon. He was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan and, since 1993, had kept the stats for all of the Caddo Hills basketball teams. He is survived by his wife, Nelda Alexander of Norman; his sister, Ann Smith of Gurdon; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred David, Jr. and Beatrice Alexander of Morrilton and Paul and Patsy Alexander of Glenwood; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in the Mount Gilead Baptist Church with Bro. John McAnally and Bro. James Owens officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until service time at the church. Interment with military honors will be in the Mount Gilead Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Rod Powell, Zack Powell, Keith Alexander, Coach Jason Whitaker, Coach James Owens and Jerry D. Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be members and former members of the Caddo Hills basketball teams and members of Mount Gilead Baptist Church. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
