Robert "Bob" Waymond Adair, Jr.

Robert “Bob” Waymond Adair, Jr. passed away on August 1, 2023, in Plano, Texas at the age of 83. He was born to Robert and Irma Lee (Casey) Adair on March 29, 1940 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Bob married Patsy “Pat” Gene Tull on June 13, 1964 in Hollywood, Arkansas. They were married for over 59 years.

Bob graduated from Arkadelphia High School in the Class of 1958 and later attended and graduated with a degree in design from ArtCenter School in Los Angeles, California (now known as ArtCenter College of Design, located in Pasadena).

Bob began his career in automobile design with Chrysler, located in Detroit, Michigan. After several years of service, he transitioned into Chrysler’s boat division and relocated with Pat to Plano, Texas. From there, he transitioned out of designing transportation and into industrial/product design, where he had a part to play in everything from concept to creation. Bob would later go on to forge his way into another industry entirely, spending the last many years of his working life as an environmental test engineer.

Bob’s love of boats translated from design into building, restoring and anything and everything related to motor, sail, wooden boats and so on. An active member of the local Wooden Boat Association, Bob remained an important and well-loved contributor to this organization for many years. Bob’s eye for detail and pristine craftsmanship led him to cultivate interests in everything from painting, design, woodworking, model-building, and the like. Anything he made or created was thoughtful and intricate, equal parts artistry and engineering.

Bob was a true caretaker, provider and a man of faith. He loved his wife, his daughter, his church and his community. He will be missed by so many.

Bob is survived by his wife, Pat Adair of Plano, Texas; daughter, Stefani Adair of Dallas, Texas; and brothers, Johnny Adair of Caddo Valley, Arkansas, and Gene Adair and his wife, Leslie, of Knoxville, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends and family during a visitation and service on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Turrentine- Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home; 2525 Central Expressway North; Allen, Texas 75013.
