Robert Ross Bookhout

Listen to Obituary

Robert Ross Bookhout passed on from this life on Friday, May 29, 2026. Bob was born on May 4, 1952 to John and Mary Kathryn (nee Reinhardt) Bookhout in Dallas, Texas.

Bob graduated from Hillcrest High School in Highland Park in 1970 and moved to Arkansas to attend Hendrix College. After graduating college, Bob served a fulfilling career at Blue Cross Blue Shield and moved to North Little Rock with his family, where he would call home - and cheer on the hogs - for the remainder of his life!

Bob loved his family and friends, taking road trips around this great country, being on or around water, supporting the razorbacks in every sport - but mostly basketball, watching every western ever filmed, spending a day at the races, and eating anything sweet - or filled with peanut butter & jelly!

Bob's legacy lives on through his daughters Mary Kathryn Bookhout and Mattie Miller Bookhout. He is also survived by his grandson, Wyatt Roberts, son-in-law, Nick Roberts, nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of deeply valued friends, including partner, Sally Gillen.

A drop in visitation will be held at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home (8801 Knoedl Court) from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to email their favorite photos, stories and of course "a few kind words" for Bob to bobbookhout@gmail.com for the family to compile (and for Bob to laugh that boisterous laugh from up above)!

Additionally, those wishing to honor Bob are invited to donate to the Buffalo National River Partners in Bob's memory: https://bnrpartners.org/memorial-bnrp

Stay "peachy" for Bob!
