Robert Brian Branton

Robert Brian Branton, 64, passed away on May 19, 2026. He was born on September 9, 1961, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Robert Larry Branton and Jenny Frazier Scull.

Brian lived a life defined by adventure, determination, and an unwavering appreciation for the world around him. His career took him across the globe, allowing him to experience different cultures, meet people from all walks of life, and create memories that lasted a lifetime. Whether traveling to a distant destination or exploring closer to home, Brian embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and curiosity.

An adventurer at heart, Brian enjoyed motorcycle racing, sailing, camping, and skiing. He loved the freedom of the open road, the serenity of the water, and the beauty of the outdoors. He was naturally inquisitive and had a mind for engineering, which led him to excel in his career as an industrial automator. Outside of work he expressed his creativity through art and craftsmanship–building, fixing, and making things with his hands. He sought knowledge, loved technology, and held a genuine optimism about the future of humanity.

Brian had refined tastes in music, literature, and fine spirits. He was a devoted Astros fan who had the privilege of attending a World Series game and celebrating the parade that followed. In his later years, he checked two remarkable experiences off his bucket list: making the pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago and traveling to the Isle of Man to witness the TT races firsthand.

Brian was raised in Little Rock before his love of motorcycle racing carried him to Mexico City in 1987, where he met the woman who would become his wife, Patricia de Orduña. They married in 1989, built their life together in Houston, and raised their two sons, Patrick and Chris. Though Brian and Patricia eventually parted ways, they remained close and continued to raise their boys together. The time Brian spent with his sons was among the most cherished of his life.

Throughout his life, Brian faced cancer multiple times with remarkable strength, courage, and resilience. He met every challenge without letting it dim his spirit. His goofy and effortlessly warm personality was the kind that made a room feel lighter. The determination and positive outlook were not performances; they were simply who he was, and that was an inspiration to everyone who knew and loved him.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Larry Branton and Jenny Abrams; his grandparents; his brother, Beau Abrams; and his niece, Katie Hankins.

He is survived by his sons, Patrick Branton and Chris Branton, and their mother, Patricia de Orduña; his sisters, Laurie Collins (Eddie), Kathryn Ford (Doug), Jill Blevans (John), and Bridget Strauss (Scott); his brother, Andy Branton; his aunts, Glenda Gregorie and Ann Micheli; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Brian never really believed in standing still. He found meaning in motion, the next road, the next horizon, the next thing worth being curious about. That restlessness wasn't something he had to manage; it was his gift, and he gave it freely to everyone around him. The road he traveled was long, full, and entirely his own. And for those who rode any part of it alongside him, the miles meant everything.

Visitation is Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held the same day beginning at 1:00 PM at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
