Robert "Bob" E. York Jr.

Listen to Obituary

Robert E. "Bob" York, Jr., 82, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and with Judy, the love of his life, by his side. Bob was born February 3, 1944, in Grayville, Illinois.

Bob was no stranger to hard work. Growing up in Grayville, he worked alongside his father, Robert Sr., in the oil fields, where he developed the strong work ethic that would remain with him throughout his life.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966, where he was stationed overseas and worked as an aircraft mechanic. His military service remained a great source of pride throughout his life. He especially enjoyed seeing the B-58 on display at the Little Rock Air Force Base, knowing he had once worked on those very aircraft.

Soon after being discharged from the Air Force, Bob began what would become a 37-year career with Arkansas Power & Light, now Entergy. He started in relay and substation work and eventually retired as a Manager. His dedication and work ethic were remarkable-Bob never missed a single day of work throughout his entire career.

Bob married the love of his life, Judy, and they shared 39 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed traveling and were especially grateful for the opportunity to travel more after retirement.

Retirement certainly did not mean slowing down when it came to serving others. Bob remained active in his community and was awarded several Entergy grants in recognition of his volunteer service. With great love, he donated those grants to Crestwood Elementary School in North Little Rock, where his granddaughters, Jordan and Jalynn, attended elementary school.

Bob never met a stranger. He genuinely enjoyed people and had a way of making conversation wherever he went. He also loved playing poker and continued to enjoy the game for as long as he was able to make it to the table.

Bob faced months of serious heart and lung illness with tremendous courage. Through it all, he remained surrounded by the people who loved him most.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Judy (Jordan) York; his daughters, Cinde (Dane) Hart of Bryant, Arkansas, and their children, Lauren and Austin; Shelli York of Benton, Arkansas, and her daughters, Peyton and Presli; and Jenni (David) Brown of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and their twin daughters, Jordan and Jalynn. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Spencer of Grayville, Illinois, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma, and his father, Robert E. York, Sr. both of Grayville, Illinois.
