Robert Lun Whittington

Robert Lun Whittington, age 77, of Mount Ida and Russellville, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020.

He was born on April 2, 1943, in Mount Ida, the son of Lonnie Sumpter Whittington and Hester Mae Smith Whittington. He was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Madison Clemmons and Rachel Roberts; his parents; two brothers, Lloyd Whittington and Jerome Whittington; and one sister, Vonda Booth.

Robert was a Christian in faith and a member of Christian Mission Ministries in Pencil Bluff. He was a retired mechanic and broadcaster. He enjoyed going to church and visiting with people. Robert loved the outdoors and he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by the mother of his children and closest confidant, Lena Frances Swindle; two sons, Shelby Whittington and Travis (Amanda) Whittington; two daughters, Sheila Cagle and Thrada (Richard) Roberts; seven grandchildren, Rachel (Sean) Sanders, Camden (Dylan) Lambert and Cheyenne (Josh) Bennett, Dakota (Tiffany) Whittington and Tabi (Michael) Hart, Rhiannon (Brian) Sproles and Ryan Roberts; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 28, 2020, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs with Bro. Brent Furr officiating.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until service time on Saturday.
