Robert Bryan "Mac" McArthur II, 29, of Little Rock went to be with his Lord on February 15, 2016 surrounded by his family. Mac was born February 2, 1987 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He attended The Allen School and the Little Rock School District where he graduated in 2005 from Hall High School. Mac had many interests and lived life to the fullest. He had a passion for music, movies, floating in the pool, going to the Symphony and The Reparatory Theatre. His main joy in life was watching his brother Neal play football for the Pulaski Academy Bruins. Neal "Buddy" was his everything, his brother, best friend, constant companion and confidant. They shared a bond that went beyond brotherly love. His world revolved around Neal. They shared everything. Neal's best friends were Mac's best friends.
Mac is preceded in death by his grandparents Jack and Carolyn Grasinger, Bryan and Billie McArthur, aunt, Stephanie Grasinger and uncle Bill McArthur.
He is survived by his mother, Kitty McArthur of Little Rock, his father Bob McArthur of Fayetteville and his best friend and brother Neal McArthur of Little Rock. Mac is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mac had many loving Caregivers throughout his life, who became part of the family. They cared for him as if he was their own. The Caregivers are Larry "Mr. Larry" Ferris, Shirley "Ms. Shirley" Swanigan and Tatyana Podelnyuk. Mr. Larry was another one of Mac's best friends.
There have been so many provisions from God given to Kitty, Mac and Neal. So many people and places that helped Mac for 29 years that Kitty and Neal want to acknowledge and thank; The staff of AR Hospice and Nurse Paula Keith for her professional and loving care, Fellowship Bible Church, our church home for over 24 years, for loving us and teaching us about ‘the way, the truth and the life." John 14:6. The physicians and staff at AR Children's Hospital, UAMS, St. Vincent's and various physicians in private practice in Central Arkansas. The staff at Integrity Inc., for providing excellent care and services all these years. A special thanks to Erin Sheffield, who was Mac's advocate, champion, defender and friend. Her tireless work ethic and devotion to her clients is evident thru her love for them, The Southwest Power Pool family for their overwhelming support and understanding. The Pulaski Academy staff, teachers and friends for their love and support not only to Neal but to Mac as well, and most of all, to The Allen School, a school that provides and serves children, from birth to 5 with early intervention of Physical/occupational/speech therapy. Mac attended this school at age 2 to 5.
Because of the various therapies, classroom teachings, hot meals, fun activities and TLC, it formed a foundation of possibilities which set Mac on the pathway of life. A special thanks to Suzy Benham for being our Champion then and now.
Cheri Goforth, a longtime family friend, perfectly summed up the impact Mac made on everyone's life:
"Anyone who ever met Mac knows that he is and always was a very special angel. I am fortunate to have known him and witnessed his strength and his gentleness; his beautiful smile and his determination to overcome and recover time and time again from the many challenges he faced. "Miracle Mac" was a new given name. Mac was never a demanding soul but always happy and content with the simple joys in life."
