Robert Conway McClure 88 of Alexander, AR.,Died May 28th, 2026.
He was born May 9, 1938 in Texarkana, Texas to Maydel and Conway McClure. He graduated from Arkansas High School in 1956 and continued his education at the University of Arkansas where he attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
Robert was a professional engineer and enjoyed a forty year career with the Federal Government serving both the Army Corps. Of Engineers and the Internal Revenue Service. Robert achieved many awards during his career with the Federal Government.
He helped design and develop many of the recreational facilities on the Arkansas River and other Corps projects. He served as a Valuation Engineer with the IRS which was a very rewarding part of his career. Robert also served in the Artillery Division of the 39" Infantry, Arkansas Army National Guard for 6 years. Robert was involved with his neighborhood association and after retirement, Robert donated much of his time serving his community as a Recreational Improvement District Commissioner. He also loved the outdoors and was a avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed these activities with many friends and family.
Robert was a member of the Geyer Springs Baptist Church and enjoyed his church family, especially his Sunday School Class and also bible study sessions.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his lovely wife, Stovie. Robert and Stovie had a wonderful marriage of 53 years. He is survived by a daughter, Paula JO Lahey and her husband Ed; two sons, Rawson Conway McClure and Jonathan Parker McClure and his wife Angela; a step daughter Gilda Ann Grant and step son Ronnie W. Rogers; and one sister, Alicia Howell and her husband Stanley; seven grand children, ten great grandchildren, and other nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Visitation will be on June 4th at 12:00 PM at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM also at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pinecrest Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
