Robert Mitchell Winter

Robert Mitchell Winter, age 84, of Little Rock, passed away on December 22,2024. He was born on August 1, 1940, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to Franklin Winter and Virginia Mitchell Winter.

He attended school at Blessed Sacrament and Annie Camp Jr. High in Jonesboro. His sophomore year, he moved to Subiaco Academy, where he played tennis, baseball, and basketball. He was a member of the yearbook staff and served as the editor his senior year.

He went on to attend Arkansas State University and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where he received a Masters in Accounting.

He began his career in accounting at Peat Marwich in Little Rock, earning his CPA license. He founded his own firm, Rasco, Burris & Winter several years later. The firm is now Rasco, Winter, & Thomas Group, where his legacy of honest, integrity and personal service to clients continues.

He had a lifelong commitment to Subiaco Academy, hiving off his time, talent, and treasure. He served on the Board of Trustees, the Foundation Board, the Investment Committee, and several capital campaigns. He was also the Audit Committee Chair.

His untiring commitment to serving others included his time on the CARTI Board of Directors, which he chaired 2001-2002. He was treasurer and board member at United Cerebral Palsy for over 26 years. He was treasurer of the Lions Club, and the Serra Club, and served on the Finance Committee at Christ The King Catholic Church.

Robert loved to walk every day, stopping to visit with his neighbors along the way. He and Sue Beth were happiest spending time with family and entertaining in their home. His greatest joy was being with Sue Beth and his grandchildren. He talked about his grandchildren to anyone who would listen.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sue Beth Winter; daughters, Dana Bauer (David) and Dawne Fox (Joel); five grandchildren: Hunter Bauer, Jack Bauer (Madison), Ben Bauer, Mollie Fox, and Henry Fox; brother Bill Winter; sister-in-law, Joan Fenaughty; brother-in-law, Tom Covington; and a host of extended family and friends.

We want to give our special thanks to Pamela Dilworth, who lovingly cared for dad in his final year. She was an angel sent to us.
