Surrounded by love, Robert Leon “Bob” Russell left this world to enter the presence of the Lord on March 3, 2026. He was 81 years old.
Born on September 17, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa, Bob lived a full and faithful life marked by hard work, deep devotion to his family, and a steady joy that touched everyone who knew him.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and received several commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon. After his military service, he built a long and successful career in retail management with Walmart and Family Dollar, eventually serving as a Regional Vice President. He was known for being firm but fair, and for genuinely caring about the people he worked alongside.
Family was always at the center of Bob’s life. He loved gathering around the table each week to play cards and games with family and neighbors. After retiring, he and his beloved wife of 60 years, Linda, enjoyed traveling and taking cruises together, creating treasured memories side by side.
Bob was a devoted Arkansas Razorbacks fan and had a deep love for music. He rarely missed reading the newspaper from front to back and took great pride in keeping his yard in pristine condition. Time spent outdoors was one of his simple joys and reflected the care he put into everything he did.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda R. Russell; his sons, Curt Russell and wife Lissa, and Kevin Russell and wife Pride; his grandchildren, Payton Russell (Taylor), Paige Harms (Jason), Garrett Russell (Hannah), and Kyndsey Russell (Colton); and a soon-to-arrive great-grandson, Beckham Lane Harms. He is also survived by his sisters, Dolly Winckler and Joyce Minard; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. and Margaret E. (Graham) Russell; his siblings, Chuck Russell, Sandy Hume, Larry Russell, Roberta Whan, and Leona Russell; and his special fur babies, Baby Cuddles and Abby.
Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Home in Benton, Arkansas, on Friday, March 6, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service, complete with military honors at 2:00 p.m.
Bob will be remembered for his strength, his steady presence, and the deep love he had for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and unwavering support.
