Robert Coy Trimble, Jr.

Robert Coy Trimble, Jr., Bob as he was known, 94, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, in Little Rock, Arkansas, following a brief illness following hospitalization in July. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Cornelia Trimble, and siblings, Barbara Benetz, and Harold Trimble.

He is survived by his son Robert Bruce Trimble, nephew Michael Benetz (Leisa), niece Debbie Ransom (Rick), great-nieces Ashley Abell and Tiffany Darr (Michael), and Keith Hamilton (Laura), and great-nieces Rebecca and Sarah, all of Arkansas, and Lisa Slinkard (Randall) and Bill Goodrum, both of Texas. He is also survived by his wife's sister-in-law, Claudia Hamilton, of Little Rock, AR.

Bob was born to Robert and Cornelia Trimble on October 3, 1928, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Bob's parents often called him "Son"; a nickname that carried when his siblings, Barbara, the second and Harold, the youngest, were born. Even his nephew and niece and grand-nieces on the Trimble side of the family called him Uncle Son.

After graduating from Little Rock High School, Bob attended Little Rock Junior College, now the University of Arkansas Little Rock. Following his sophomore year, he transferred to the University of Arkansas Fayetteville, where he studied accounting.

Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force. Stationed at Selfridge Air Force Base (AFB) in Michigan, he transitioned from accounting to auditing, a career change that positively impacted his life. With an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1955, he was stationed at Little Rock AFB and opened the audit agency. There, he met Mary Jeanette, Jay as she was known, Hamilton. In 2020, he wrote, “I believe God helped me meet her. When I met her, I knew she was the one for me.” They were married on August 23, 1958.

On October 16, Bob and Jay adopted a son, Robert Bruce Trimble. In 2020, Bob wrote, “I think God helped us in adopting Bruce. God was helping us make our lives complete.”

Bob's highly decorated career spanned 39 years and crossed Michigan, Illinois, Iceland, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, and Colorado. He retired as a GS-13 from Little Rock AFB in 1990. Throughout Bob's career in the civil service, Jay provided unconditional support and tireless assistance.

As devout Christians, Bob and Jay were active in the Methodist church at each station of their career and served on numerous committees. Bob once said, "I love the church." But unfortunately, following an auto accident in 2017, he lost his license and could no longer attend.

In addition to supporting Methodist ministries, he generously supported several causes, including homelessness, mental health awareness, and suicide prevention.
