Robert Gerald Watson, age 88, of Arkadelphia, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017. He was born September 11, 1928, in Arkadelphia to the late Ernest and Lucy Burns Watson. He attended Ouachita Baptist University and Henderson State University. He was a life-long member of Unity Baptist Church.
Robert was a retired Lt. Colonel in the United States Army and a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his service career, he worked at Arkadelphia High School for many years.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and William Watson; and two sisters, Dorothy Olive and Hazel Sammons.
Survivors are his wife of nearly sixty-seven years, Cora Arnold Watson; one son, James Watson and wife, Jill, of Jasper, Indiana; one daughter, Karen Ross and husband, Randall of Montgomery, Alabama; one grandson, Thomas Watson; one granddaughter, Stephanie Klemetson and husband, Nick; and one brother, Howard Watson of Louisiana.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday, June 14, at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.
Services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, June 15, at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Golden officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Unity Cemetery.
