Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Welch, beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend. Robert received his travel orders to Heaven's gates on October 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 10, 1947, in Altadena, California, Robert's journey through life was marked by unwavering devotion to family, a commendable career, and a passion for classic cars.

Robert was the cherished son of the late Jack and Lorraine Welch, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity. A proud graduate of El Monte High School, Robert pursued higher education with dedication, earning a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry from Long Beach State University and a Master's of Science in Petroleum Engineering from University of Southern California. His intellectual curiosity and commitment to excellence were evident throughout his academic and professional life.

In his early adulthood, Robert answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. His time in service, including a deployment to Vietnam, was marked by honor and bravery, and he reached the rank of Corporal. His military service was a testament to his dedication and patriotism, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life.

On May 30, 1970, Robert married the love of his life, Connie Knapp. Together, they built a beautiful family over the almost 56 years of marriage, raising two wonderful children, Andrea and Brian. His family was his pride and joy, and his role as a husband, dad, and grandpa was one he cherished deeply.

Robert's love for classic cars, particularly Chevrolets, was legendary among his friends and family. He spent countless hours restoring and enjoying these timeless vehicles, sharing his passion with fellow enthusiasts and his family.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Connie Welch; his daughter Andrea Fisher and her son Malik Fisher; his son Brian Welch and wife Britt Welch, and their children, Luke Welch and Mariah Welch. He is also remembered dearly by his sisters and their spouses, Christine and Lee Ramirez, Gail and Don Parris, and Lynne and Dennis Conner. His legacy of love, kindness, and commitment lives on in their hearts.

A service to honor Robert's life will be held on July 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, located at 1501 W. Maryland Avenue, North Little Rock, AR 72120. Family, friends, and all who were touched by Robert's life are invited to celebrate his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Robert's memory to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation at https://www.cholangiocarcinoma.org/ or the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund at https://www.vvmf.org/....both organizations close to the family's heart.

Robert's life was a testament to the power of love, the importance of family, and the joy of pursuing one's passions. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his spirit continue to inspire and guide us.
