Roberta Fern Graves

Roberta Fern (Koon) Graves, age 92, passed away peacefully October 4, 2023. She was born August 6, 1931 to Jeff and Iris Koon. She was married to James Joshua Graves and had 4 children – James Graves, Michael Graves, Donna Taylor and Deana Graves; 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Iris Koon; her siblings, Charles, Carroll Gene and Margie Koon; and her grandson, Joshua Graves.

Roberta was a life-long resident of Ferndale, AR. Roberta, or “Bobbie” as known to her friends and family worked in the insurance industry, had a farm at Paron, AR and ran a store in the Ferndale area.

Roberta loved to write poetry, leaving behind an anthology of religious poetry to be enjoyed for countless generations to come. She was an avid gardener always creating a vegetable garden for her and her family. Even this past year at 92 she was still buying seeds, planting seedlings and enjoying the garden as it grew. Roberta crocheted gifts for all her family throughout the years that they still treasure.

No memorial service or funeral is planned. Roberta will be buried at Spring Valley Cemetery at Ferndale, AR. Arrangements entrusted to Smith Benton Funeral Home.
