Rodger Eudean Herekamp, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away surrounded by the legacy of a life well lived and deeply loved.
Rodger was married to the love of his life, Gladys Dean Boyd Herekamp, for 66 wonderful years. Together, they built a strong family rooted in love, laughter, and hard work.
He is survived by his children: Rebecca Taylor of Garner; Tim Herekamp and wife Donnette of Searcy; Freddie Herekamp of McRae; Danny Herekamp and wife Tammy of Cabot; Vicki King and husband Bronco of McRae; Vanessa Kelley and husband Lee of Conway; and Galen Herekamp and wife Rochelle of Beebe. His legacy continues through his 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Arnold Herekamp and Paradine Feather Herekamp; his siblings Ray Herekamp, Wayne Herekamp, and Marie Roddy.
Known for his quick wit and playful spirit, Rodger was a true “cut-up.” He never missed a chance to share his favorite joke, asking anyone nearby if they knew why he was so light—only to grin and say it was because he was “half Feather,” a nod to his mother’s maiden name. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, leaving people smiling wherever he went.
Rodger retired from Vandiver Construction after years of dedicated work. Outside of his career, he found joy in the simple, meaningful things in life. He loved fishing and hunting, and he took great pride in growing a garden big enough to feed not only his family but many others. He especially enjoyed shelling and picking out pecans, a quiet pastime that reflected his patience and appreciation for simple pleasures. Some of his most cherished moments were spent crawdad hunting with his grandchildren and tinkering with projects, always keeping his hands and heart busy.
Above all, Rodger will be remembered for his love of family, his generous spirit, and his ability to bring laughter into everyday life. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will live on for generations.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W. Dewitt Henry Dr., Beebe, Arkansas. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2026, at Dogwood Church in Griffithville, followed by burial in Dogwood Cemetery. Online guestbook at www.smithfamilycares.com
