Rosemary Beth (Stalans) Boggs was born in Knoxville, TN and spent most of her life in Arkansas, near her mother and sister. This allowed her to spend time with her family, which she treasured. She was a member of Sylvan Hills Church of Christ and enjoyed helping when she could. She especially enjoyed attending the monthly widows dinner and sharing time with the other ladies.
Rosemary loved writing from an early age, earning awards for her short stories. This love of writing led to a 30-year career working for the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. During her tenure there she worked as a staff writer, page designer, columnist and entertainment editor for the TV magazine. She also worked with her mother in her online store, editing those posts with gusto.
Her love of food and cooking was a favorite way for her to connect with family and friends. Experiencing new restaurants and writing reviews for the newspaper was a perfect way for her to marry her love of food and writing. She even created special treats for her dogs, giving many away to lucky friends. She especially loved a good pea salad.
Rosemary loved the Christmas season, always participating in giving, through Angel Trees and Smile boxes. Every year was a new chance for her to show love to so many children she would never meet, but would always think of. Her family finds comfort in this cherished memory this holiday season.
Caring for others like she did motivated her to act as a mother figure to not only her son, but to several neighborhood children. Her home was a place of refuge and caring that made a lasting impression on so many of Alex’s friends.
In her later years, although hindered by health concerns, she continued expressing her love of animals, adopting several from shelters. The last adoption was only months before she passed. She and her son spent many happy hours in this joint endeavor.
Rosemary is survived by her son, Alex Boggs. She is also survived by her mother, Rochelle Stalans; and her sisters, Angela Stalans and Michelle Stalans. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curt Boggs and her father, Herbert Stalans.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sherwood Animal Control, 6500 N. Hills Blvd., Sherwood, AR 72120.
