Rosemary Schalchlin Goodson, born July 30, 1945, passed away unexpectedly at her home at the age of 80. She was born in Little Rock to parents Ernest Schalchilin and Eva Harris Schalchlin. She is predeceased by her parents as well as her siblings Ernest Mower, Irene Thompson, Myrtle Beard, Don Schalchlin, Ernestine White, Evelyn Howell, Kenneth Schalchlin, and David Schalchlin, Sr. She was married to Joe Arden Goodson (1962-1967 death), and John Samuel Goodson (1979-2009 death).
Rosemary is survived by her children Greg Goodson (Lori), Kerry Sue Goodson (Pete), Matt Goodson, and Krissy Smith. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Especially Sherry Williams, Cindy Brown and niece Becky Howell. Mom loved to be called sis, wife, mom, mama, grandma, grandpa Rosie, Gigi, aunt, and friend.
Rosemary was a Christian and loved her Lord and Savior. It was not uncommon to see her praying and reading her bible right before bedtime. There were many hardships in her life and many health issues as she got older, but despite this, she easily forgave and loved unconditionally. Her house was a hub for her family. Her gift was hospitality. As a friend once said, “you can come in visit, and leave with a full stomach”. She could pull together a meal at the drop of a hat. Her favorite thing to cook was what she called her “mama meal” (fried potatoes, fried cabbage, macaroni and tomatoes, pinto beans, and cornbread).
Mom loved activities. From fishing, reading, playing softball to bowling. She enjoyed cards, Scrabble, bingo and the casino too.
Visitation is 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Sunday, December 28, 2025 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 1:00 PM, Monday December 29, 2025 at Crystal Hill Baptist Church in Little Rock. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery on Hwy 10.
