Roy O'Neal Skinner, Sr.

Roy O'Neal Skinner 88, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday August 6th, 2024. He was born in Morrilton, Arkansas on August 30th, 1935, to Augustus and Viola Skinner.

Being a country farm boy. Roy dropped out of school at an early age to help with the family farm and to help pick cotton. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1958. During this time, he got his GED, learned electronics and general mechanics which he would use to work for himself in many self-owned businesses where he was a professional "fixer of things". He owned appliance stores, TV and stereo repair shops, a used car lot, and later owned many houses as a landlord where he would do most of the repairs himself. This led to more time that he could spend with his family which he started when he married his wife, Karen Rose Skinner on July 10th, 1965. He would go on to have 4 children over the years: Vicky, Roy Jr., Steven, and Peter.

Roy was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of North Little Rock, where he was a faithful member and servant of the Lord for over 45 years!

Roy loved his wife of 59 years. Even in his struggles at the end, he made sure EVERYONE knew how much he loved her, and everyone knew he had the best wife he could have ever hoped for. He loved and cared dearly for his family, his church family, and his friends.

Roy loved to laugh and joke, and often thought of himself as a comedian. He loved to go fishing with friends and family. But his biggest passion and love, only behind The Lord, wife, family and friends, was singing and playing music. He was a superstar. Not to Hollywood, Nashville or the world, but to his family and friends, or anyone that ever heard him play and sing. He played and sang to his kids and had his own bands. He loved to play and sing for the church and the Lord. Alas, now he sings with those gone before us, and the Angels in the presence of the Lord.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents Augustus and Viola Skinner, his sister Lorene Poole, his brothers AJ Skinner and Leo Skinner, his daughter Vicky Noah, his sisters Shirley Keilty and Agnes Knuckles.

Roy is survived by Karen Rose Skinner, his loving wife of 59 years! He is also survived by his brother Robert Skinner (Janice), 3 sons Roy Jr Skinner, Steven Skinner, Peter Skinner (Christen), 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.
