Ruby Collier

Ruby Faye Collier, 95, of Little Rock passed away July 17, 2023. She was born May 13, 1928, in Butlerville, AR to the late John Sherrill Williams and the late Ethel Ada Cox Williams.

Survivors include sons: Gary Collier and Larry Collier; siblings: Jean Owens, Paul Williams, Ann Green; grandchildren: Daniel Collier (Angela) and Whitney White (Clint); great-grandchildren: Lucy Collier, William Collier, Amelia White, and Porter White.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Collier, and siblings: Frances Smith, Louise Williams, Virginia McCutcheon, and Steve Williams.

Faye was one of eight children. She grew up on a farm in Butlerville, AR, and was known for being a hard worker. Her father depended heavily on her to work the mules and plow the soil. She spent much of her time working the fields picking cotton and strawberries. She was the best strawberry picker because she always knew how to find the ripest berries. She had a love for all things sweet and made the best cakes and pies. Faye attended Greenwood Baptist Church with her family and was baptized in a pond near their family farm. Her siblings remember her sweet spirit and willingness to always help others.

Faye was married in 1949 and she and her husband moved to Central Arkansas. They eventually planted roots in Levy of North Little Rock where they raised their two sons and were members of Faith Baptist Church. Together they owned and operated Pike Auto Parts. Faye later worked at the Remington Arms plant from 1972 until she retired in 1993. The strong work ethic she developed while growing up on her family farm served her well at Remington. Faye was often recognized for her thoroughness when inspecting products from the plant.

After her retirement, Faye remained in North Little Rock where she enjoyed spending time helping care for her grandchildren. In her final years, she lived in Little Rock at the Woodland Heights Senior Apartments with her youngest son and enjoyed frequent visits from her great grandchildren.

Memorial service is 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest with her late husband, George, at Butlerville Cemetery in Lonoke County.
