Ruby Fay Wiggs

Listen to Obituary

Ruby Fay Wiggs went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 9, 2025, to tell Daddy and Jesus “hello” from me.

She was born to Roy Clinton Rettig and Fay Marie Collins on September 5, 1943. She met and married the love of her life, Windell Glenn Wiggs on October 30, 1959.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, my Daddy and her brothers, James Roy and Gregory Clinton Rettig, along with a niece, Kimberly, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Those of us remaining include me, her only daughter, Angie (Tony) Ballard; grandchildren, Tony, Jr. (Kerri), Timmy (April), Tyler (Victoria) Ballard and Tiffany (Erik) James; seventeen great grandchildren, plus a great grandson-in-law and great granddaughter-in-law; and five great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Pearlene (Bob) Arthur, sister-in-law, Janet Rettig; three nieces and two nephews-in-law; one great niece and six great nephews.

Ruby was known as Hon, Babe, Mother, Momma, Ruby, Aunt Rub, Mawsqaw and Granny. My mother was a devout Christian and founded in the Word of God. Mother played the piano and sang with a quartet including her, Daddy, Mike and Wanda Ball and me on the piano bench. Mother worked in many varieties of public service. Her favorites were waiting tables at Anderson’s Restaurant, Rick’s Pharmacy and being a greeter at First Baptist Church. Momma loved to cross stitch and made special pieces for a lot of the kids. My Momma loved nice things like jewelry and designer handbags and Daddy spoiled her with both. My Momma had long mourned my Daddy and was ready to be with him. We loved her dearly and deeply and she will be missed terribly, but I know she is happy, healthy and no longer sad. What a day that will be when we are all together again. I love you big much, Momma!
