The couple resided in Wichita, Kansas for several years where she began raising her family and working alongside her husband building their home and many others in the community. Ruey moved away from her parents and brothers to her husband‘s town in Arkansas, where they continued raising their four daughters and working together constructing houses. Ruey contributed greatly to these endeavors and proved to be very skilled. She was an excellent sheetrock finisher and painter and set the standard so high that many could not meet it.
Ruey June had a genuine, beautiful smile that would light up the world. She is remembered as a wonderful mother who could resourcefully stretch a penny whether it was creating three homemade meals a day, running a household, or her ability to repurpose an item for another use. She enjoyed canning and gardening alongside her husband and daughters. As an avid seamstress, she sewed many dresses for her four daughters including making a wedding dress or two. She enjoyed artistic endeavors and has left behind several beautiful paintings for her family to cherish.
When her daughters were adults and raising children of their own, she would readily step in to help whether it was words of encouragement, advice or lending a helping hand where needed. She relished in her grandchildren, enjoyed rocking them and wanted them to know that she loved them dearly.
She was a loving companion and demonstrated what commitment meant for a marriage through her consistent actions of showing that love is actions more than words. For the last several years her strength, endurance and perseverance she provided to her husband as a helpmate and caregiver proved her unmatched devotion of love and patience. She was a true helpmate to her husband; she never complained and was always consistent. Like the energizer bunny, she would appear to tirelessly go and go.
