Russell Chappell
Russell Leon Chappell age 73 of Diamondhead Community died Sunday. He was born November 14, 1938 in Alton, IL the son of Ernest Russell and Leah Esther Keirle Chappell. He was a retired coach and math teacher, a member of Diamondhead Country Club and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Malvern. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Chloe Huber.
Survivors include his Wife Norma Jean Chappell, one son Russell Leon "Rusty" Chappell Jr. and his wife Kim of Spring Lake, MI, one daughter, Laura Mannisi and her husband Tom of Maryville, IL, two sisters, Sheryl Gunter and her husband Jim of Fairfield Glades, TN and Nancy Stephens and her husband Charles of Grayslake, IL, four grandchildren, Kristen Byfield, Russell Cody Chappell, Brian Chappell, and Matthew Mannisi, and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Thursday, July 19 at the Regency Funeral Home in Malvern with Rev. John Owens officiating. Visitation will be from 1 PM till service time at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Nameoki United Methodist church in Granit City, IL.
