Ruth Emmert Berry, 82 of Little Rock went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 7, 2013. Ms. Berry was the daughter of Charles E. Flowers and Katherine Emmert Range, of Greensboro, North Carolina. She graduated from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia and the Southwest Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX. She served the people of Arkansas and of Little Rock, first as a VISTA volunteer, then as an elementary school teacher, and later as a volunteer for many charitable institutions, including the Arkansas Baptist Children's Homes Promise House. She was an accomplished traveler, both domestic and international, and spent a year in American Samoa as a volunteer teacher. She was an avid Arkansas Traveler's baseball fan as well as a University of Arkansas Razorback football and basketball fan. She never wavered from a strong Christian faith throughout a long, productive and interesting life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Charles E. Flowers, Jr, of Cleveland, TN, her husband Melton "Jack" Berry, and by her nephew, James Raymond Flowers of Colorado Springs, CO. She is survived by her nephew, Charles E. Flowers, III of Chapel Hill, NC and by her great nieces and nephews, Sam and Lauren Flowers of Colorado Springs, CO and Katherine and Sarah Flowers of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Services will be Monday, August 12th at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Rick Jaggars. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock.
