Ruth Stowers Hammond, 95, of Little Rock, passed away October 7, 2012. Born in Grantsville, Georgia to Hubert and Nannie Lone Robertson Stowers, she was a member of Geyer Springs United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Stone Oak Army Reunion Group.
Preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. O. B. Hammond and son, Tom Hammond, she is survived by sons, Ralph Hammond (Terri) of Little Rock and Richard Hammond (Leslie) of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Lisa Hoggard (Skip) of Little Rock, Lauri Bhagat (Amit) of St. Louis, Missouri, Dustin Hammond of Oakland, California, Jacob Hammond of Atlanta and Jennifer Jernigan (Glen) of Dunedin, Florida; great-grandchildren, Marlee Hoggard, Anjali Bhagat, Aadi Bhagat and Thomas Keikilani Jernigan; and brother, Richard Stowers (Mary) of Los Gatos, California.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Valley Ranch Nursing Center for their loving and compassionate care of Mrs. Hammond.
Services will be held on Friday, November 2 at 11:00 a.m., preceded by visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the church parlor, at Geyer Springs United Methodist Church, 5500 Geyer Springs Rd., Little Rock, 72209. The Rev. Dr. Candace Barron will officiate. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Geyer Springs UMC Food Pantry.
