Sandra Graham Case passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at the age of eighty.
Born on February 15, 1946, she was the only child of the late Jeff and Martha Lyon Graham. Although she spent most of her life in Little Rock, Arkansas, she also cherished time in Warren (Bradley County), Arkansas, where both of her parents were born and raised and where she enjoyed being with her cousins and extended family.
She was a life-long member of Second Baptist Church Downtown in Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William David Case, Sr., and survived by daughter, Kristi Case McGibbony; son, William David Case, Jr.; four grandchildren, Caroline Harris (Jared), William McGibbony (Audrey), Madeline Willis (Hunter), and Dakota Case (Kirsten); four great-grandchildren, Chuck, Hank and Rosie Harris and Sutton McGibbony; and a host of beloved friends and family.
Sandra loved her family and ensured her parents were included in family dinners at least once a week for as long as possible. She volunteered with the PTA yearly and never missed a school function, performance, or sporting event. While volunteering at Terry Elementary School in the 1970s, she partnered with the Arkansas Natural Resources (Soil Conservation) Service to create and build the Terry Elementary Nature Trail in the woods behind the school. The trail is still used today as an outdoor classroom, allowing students to study local ecosystems and conservation.
Sandra also shared that love of nature and animals with her grandchildren, who have fond memories of helping her put out birdseed and watch for turtles that lived in the yard for years, and the neighborhood children who helped her humanely trap and relocate animals that were eating her flowers and plants.
She also adored her friends, many of whom she had known since grade school. She and several of her best friends from Little Rock Central High met at least monthly for lunch or other outings. She was always the organizer of reunions, carpools, neighborhood supper clubs, and coffee klatches.
Family meals and events were always at Gammy (Sandra), and Poppy's (David) house and the grandkids loved to spend time there. Family and neighbors alike knew there was always chocolate in the treat drawer in Gammy and Poppy's kitchen! One dear neighbor described Sandra as not only the matriarch of the family, but as the matriarch of their street. She was always ready to pitch in and help, exchange gardening tips, bring in the mail or provide meals when needed. She and David both loved watching the neighborhood kids grow up.
We are forever grateful to the neighbors of Roanne Court for their love and support for Poppy and Gammy over the years. In addition to a green thumb and knack for landscaping, Sandra loved to paint, cross-stitch, knit, and crochet. She organized a weekly neighborhood craft club where everyone worked on their latest project while sharing coffee and baked goods. After her children were raised, she parlayed her talent for needlework into a job at Leisure Arts, Inc., as an instruction writer. That job became one of the highlights of Sandra's life; she retired 25 years later as a Vice-President/Editor-in-Chief with a host of new life-long friends.
She and David delighted in their roles as Gammy and Poppy and were beyond supportive, always willing to pick up grandkids from school, take them on adventures and celebrate accomplishments. Our family has many happy memories and family traditions to share with the next generation.
In her later years, Sandra continued to enjoy spending time with family and friends and attending church. She doted on her two cats and was most comfortable walking around her backyard with a cup of coffee, checking on her roses and plants. As she declined, we talked and shared memories, and she said many times that she had a good and happy life. We take comfort in knowing she was at peace and is reunited with Dad.
We'd like to thank the staff at Fox Ridge North Little Rock for their love and care over the last few years, and the staff at Hospice Home Care Comfort Center of Little Rock for making the last few weeks as comfortable and peaceful as possible.
