Sandra Marie Wernikowski

Sandra Marie Wernikowski, age 75, of North Little Rock, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023.

She was born on August 23, 1947, in Little Rock, the daughter of Billy Dean Ross and Mary Edna Gillispie Ross.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Billy David Ross.

Sandra was a teacher in the New York Public School system, where she taught in the special education program and was also instrumental in the development of the "Mentoring To A T" program, which was within the New York public schools.  Upon her return to Arkansas, she worked for several years in administration for the Arkansas Department of Education in Little Rock. 

She enjoyed embroidery, needlepoint, astrology, and was a wonderful cook, always making sure she never let anyone go hungry when they came to visit her.  Sandra was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who loved her family and all her pets with all her heart.  She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Sandra is survived by her significant other, David Harris Russell of North Little Rock; her two sons, Tim Robertson and Marc Wernikowski, both of Alpine; her daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Mike Jester of Alpine; four grandchildren, Bryan Massey, Andrew Massey, Tyler Massey and Evan Bledsoe; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Deana and Danny Cooper of Arkadelphia; her nieces and nephews, Shane, Brandi, Tami, Ross and Katrina; and numerous extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

The family will hold a celebration of Sandra’s life at a later date to be announced.
