Schuyler Austin Van Doren, age 42, of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, passed away on August 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.


Schuyler was born on August 5, 1984, in Davenport, Iowa, to David and Vicki Van Doren. He graduated from Houston High School in Germantown, Tennessee, where he was a high school athlete and participated in wrestling and soccer. He went on to attend Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.


Schuyler was self-employed and worked with Auto Services Company (ASC Warranty), based in Mountain Home, Arkansas, for 10 years.


Schuyler was outgoing and never met a stranger. He loved meeting new people and had a way of making connections with everyone he met. He was generous, loyal, hardworking, and deeply committed to his family, his faith, and the people he loved. He was someone you could always count on and was deeply devoted to those closest to him.


Schuyler married Jodi Hankins on June 2, 2013. They made their home in Arkadelphia for the past nine years. Schuyler was a loving husband and devoted father to his son, Jackson, and daughter, Madelyn.


Schuyler was a member of Second Baptist Church in Arkadelphia, where he served as a deacon, led the men’s ministry, and mentored college students. Schuyler loved the Lord and had a heart for serving others and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.


Schuyler was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer and duck hunting. Some of the happiest moments of his life were spent boating and being on the water.


He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Elmer Lee Van Doren; his maternal grandfather, William F. Jackson Sr.; and his maternal grandmother, Dorothy A. Peters.


Schuyler is survived by his wife, Jodi (Hankins) Van Doren; his son, Jackson Van Doren; his daughter, Madelyn Van Doren; his parents, David and Vicki Van Doren of Collierville, Tennessee; his paternal grandmother, Rheta Y. Van Doren of Collierville, Tennessee; his sister and brother-in-law, Lyndi and Ronnie Thompson of Collierville, Tennessee; his nephew, Cooper Thompson; his nieces, Gray and Sawyer Thompson; his parents-in-law, Dr. James and Beverly Hankins of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chris and Jennie Hankins of Maumelle, Arkansas; and his nephews, Caiden and Logan Hankins.


Visitation will be held Thursday, August 20, from 11:00 a.m. to noon at Smith Family Funeral Home in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Second Baptist Church in Arkadelphia, with Pastor Louis Heard officiating. A private family burial will follow the service.


Pallbearers will be Dr. Marc Carozza, Cory Carter, Chris Hankins, Zach Paxton, Eric Rockwell, Dr. Derrick Ross, Jay Spinks, and Ronnie Thompson.


Honorary pallbearers will be David Armstrong, Cody Cagle, Scott Clark, Andrew Ellis, Chad Goss, Ricky Griffin, Adam Maisen, Austin Wadlow, and Rob Young.
