Listen to Obituary

Scott E. Martin, a devoted father, papa, and proud supporter of his family, passed away on December 4, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on March 29, 1959, in Dayton Ohio, Scott lived with a sense of purpose that showed in everything he did.

Scott spent his career as a computer technician with the Corps of Engineers, where he oversaw the programs that controlled the locks and dams on the Arkansas River. He took great pride in knowing his work helped keep the waterways running safely and smoothly.

Family was the heart of Scott’s world. He was incredibly proud of his son, Jonathon, and his grandchildren, Ayden and Emma. He never missed a chance to show up for them—he was always the first one at their events and made a point to pick them up from school every Thursday. His steady presence and encouragement were a constant source of love and support.

Scott was also known for his many interests and the joy he found in them. He loved riding his Harley with friends, earning him the nickname “Sparks Martin.” His adventures took him to Sturgis and through mountain roads he loved exploring. A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and sports enthusiast, he rarely missed a game. He also had a passion for history and made it a goal to visit as many national parks and historic places as he could.

Scott’s warmth, humor, and loyalty meant a great deal to those who knew him. He is survived by his son, Jonathon, and his wife, Nikki; his grandchildren, Ayden and Emma; his best friend, Randy Prentice, and his wife, Tina; and many cousins, family members, and friends who will carry his memory with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Milly Martin; his brothers Mike, Jeff, and Chris Martin; and his sister, Laura Martin.

Visitation will be held on December 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home in Benton, located at 322 N Market Street.
