Sheran Herrin

Listen to Obituary

Sheran Elizabeth Herrin (Belshan), age 76, of Beebe, Arkansas, passed away on April 27, 2026.

She was born on July 27, 1949, in Springfield, Virginia, to Ed and Ethel Belshan, who preceded her in death.

Sheran spent her life investing in others, most notably through her years as an educator. After graduating from Springfield High School, she attended Ouachita Baptist University, where she earned a degree in elementary education. She went on to teach at Beebe Schools for 27 years. Though she began teaching second grade, she soon found her place in fifth-grade social studies, where she remained for the majority of her career. She also served as co-supervisor of Camp Beebe, contributed to the summer school program, supported the after-school program, and oversaw a bird-watching program at the school.

Sheran was a fun-loving adventurer, full of laughter and love. She believed everyone she met deserved love, and she had a way of making people feel seen and cared for. She also had a playful side and loved the thrill of roller coasters—something that perfectly reflected her spirit for life and willingness to embrace joy wherever she found it.

Outside of the classroom, Sheran had a deep love for nature, especially birds. Her home was a self-proclaimed bird sanctuary, filled with feeders she faithfully maintained. She found joy in watching and caring for them, a quiet reflection of the care she gave to the people in her life.

Sheran was a Christian from an early age. She attended First Baptist Church of Springfield, where her parents were founding members, and later was a longtime member of River of Life. It was in the youth group at church that she met her husband, Patrick Steven Herrin, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. Together, they built a life marked by love, faith, and many fun adventures, including cruises, vacations, and time spent birdwatching. Throughout her years in the church, she served faithfully in many roles, including women’s ministry and the nursery.

She is survived by her children: Edward Samuel Herrin (Tracy), Christina Belle Richter (Don), and Joshua Steven Herrin (Michelle); her grandchildren: Samuel (Emilee), Maxwell, Darby, Nathaniel, Jacob, Georgia, Teresa, Rose, Madden, Alexandria, and Brittany; her great grandchildren Olivia, Lucas, Taylor, Bristol, her mother-in-law, Pat Herrin; her brother-in-law, Joey Herrin (Kristy); and her brother, Robert Wayne Belshan.

She will be remembered as “Mama,” “Nana,” and “Momma” to those who loved her most—a woman who poured her life into her family, her students, her faith, and everyone fortunate enough to know her.
