Shirlene Alice Lay, 85, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at her home on July 22nd, 2026, surrounded by love. She spent her final moments with her devoted daughter, Vicki, and family friend, Brie, at her bedside.
Born on July 2nd, 1941, in Royal, Arkansas, to Grover and Doris Tuberville. Shirlene lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to her family. She had a deep love for the Lord that guided her throughout her life and was reflected in the kindness, compassion, and grace she extended to others. Her faith was a source of strength and comfort, and she shared that strength with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Shirlene also found great joy in cooking. Her kitchen was a place where family and friends gathered, where meals were prepared with love, and where countless cherished memories were made. Whether preparing a holiday feast or a simple family dinner, she expressed her love through every meal she served.
She will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit and unwavering faith, and the unconditional love she gave to her family. Her legacy of compassion, resilience and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul and her brother Fred Tuberville. She leaves behind her son, Wayne Lay; daughter, Vicki Runquist; and her brother, Donny Tuberville and his wife Jamie. She also leaves behind many cherished relatives, dear friends, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with a pre-gathering for family and friends beginning at 10:00 a.m., at Smith Family Funeral Homes, 2205 Airport Road, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71913.
While her family grieves her passing, they find comfort in knowing that Shirlene is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Her life was a beautiful example of faith, love, hospitality, and grace, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
