Shirley Wilson Diffee, born on August 16, 1937, passed away peacefully at home with her daughters by her bedside, on July 20, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Preceeding Shirley in death were her late husbands, Roger Wilson and Carl Diffee; her brother, James "Junior" Oliver; and sister, Joyce McNeely.
Shirley's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She served as the matriarch of her family with a joy and zeal that was unparalleled. Nothing made her happier than attending special events for those she loved. Shirley was the biggest supporter, and more importantly, their greatest prayer warrior.
Shirley is survived in the hearts of her family members including her daughters, Lisa King (John), and Teresa Worley; her brother, David Oliver (Robin); sisters, Jackie Poteet (Jack), Jean Grandstaff, and Judy Myers; She was a cherished grandmother to Beau Brickell (Tonya), Jessica Leatherwood (Adam), Sarah Carney (Greg), Madison Anglin (Christian); six great grandchildren, Tori, Phoenix, Tatum, Rhett, Brooks, and Shiloh.
Shirley will be fondly remembered for the deep connections she fostered with a multitude of wonderful friends who shared in countless special moments with her.
A visitation to honor Shirley's life will take place at Smith Family Funeral Home in Hot Springs on July 24, 2024, starting at 1:00 PM. This will be followed by a Funeral Service at the same location at 2:00 PM,with Ken Carney officiating in our Chapel, where friends and family will gather to celebrate an extraordinary life well-lived.
Pallbearers will be John King, Beau Brickell, Greg Carney, Christian Anglin, Doug Myers, and Adam Leatherwood.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jeffery Tauth and staff. The family would also like to thank Kim, Trish, and Jacque, for the excellent care of their mother.
Shirley Wilson Diffee's presence brought light into the lives of many. Her kindness, grace, and compassion will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace knowing that her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
