Shirley Morris, 94, passed from this earth to join her husband of 65 years, Ed, in heaven. Born in the rural town of Langford, New York, outside Buffalo, Shirley soon made her way into the city to earn a degree as a secretary assistant. Upon completion, she took a job at Cornell University Engineering Department. This is where she met Ed as he completed his degree and started a career in the Air Force. She was often left alone to run the house in the many cities she lived in, while Ed served his country overseas. She not only ran it, but excelled at it. She oversaw the daily business of the household as well as selling many of those houses on her own, before moving onto the next assignment.
Shirley had many accomplishments in her life besides the fact that she managed many daily household duties. She and another lady saw a need at Immaculate Conception School for a library. They started that library by organizing book fairs, typing file cards and labeling the books with the proper Dewey Decimal stickers on the bindings. She was active in Altar Society and could often be found working funeral dinners and driving on school field trips. Shirley was also very active in support of the aviation scene, a lover of her husband. She didn't stand still often. But, God and family always came first, no matter what other project she was working on.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Morris. She is survived by her sons: Robert "Slug" Morris (girlfriend Rhonda) of North Little Rock, John Morris (wife Brenda) of Burlington, Vermont; grandchildren: Melissa and Natalie, also of Vermont. She also had several very special friends that will also greatly miss her.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM, Monday February 23, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be in Hamburg, New York at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or to Catholic High School for Boys.
