Stephen David Hornor, age 71, peacefully went to be with the Lord on November 2, 2025. Steve dedicated his life to faith, family, and service to others. He shared 48 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Patti Hornor. He was a proud father to Bethany MacAlmon (Ryan) and a cherished grandfather to Asher, who brought him immense joy.
A passionate and respected athletic trainer for the North American Soccer League Washington Diplomats, Yuba College, Arkansas Tech University, and the University of Central Arkansas, Steve served throughout his career guiding countless student-athletes both on and off the field. His dedication to excellence and genuine care for others left a lasting impact on those he mentored.
He received a Lifetime Achievement Award for the Arkansas Athletic Trainers’ Association in 2024, was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2015, as well as the Doug Parker Recognition Award in 2012. His many accolades include the National Athletic Training Association Service Award and Assistant Athletic Trainer of the Year 2006, Arkansas Tech Athletic Hall of Fame, Yuba College Athletic Hall of Fame, and Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association Athletic Trainer of the Year 2006.
Outside of work, Steve loved spending time outdoors. An avid cyclist, he often shared his love of God’s creation through the stunning sunrise photos captured on his rides. He also cherished time spent fly-fishing and camping. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Steve’s passion for athletics extended far beyond his profession. He was a familiar and lively presence at countless games and practices, always encouraging athletes, coaches, and fellow fans alike.
Steve’s big personality and love for people will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his steadfast faith, joyful spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and community.
He is also survived by his siblings Chuck Hornor, Randy Hornor, Rick Hornor, and Kathi Croffoot. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl “Bud” & Mary Kathleen “Katye” Hornor, and his older brother Greig Hornor.
