Stephen Allan "Al" Olcott

Stephen Allan "Al" Olcott, a beloved member of the community, passed away on September 20, 2023 at the age of 71 in Royal, Arkansas. He was born on September 27, 1951, in St. Paul, Minnesota to his parents, William Ransom Olcott and Elizabeth Jean Bloodsworth-Olcott. He will be reunited in Heaven with his parents and one brother, William R. Olcott II, as well as two sisters, Kathleen Olcott, and Nancy Tyrrell. 

One of Al's defining traits was his outgoing nature and his ability to connect with others. He never met a stranger and always made everyone around him feel welcome and valued. This charismatic personality allowed him to form countless friendships throughout his lifetime. Al had a great passion for nature and animals. He always found joy in being surrounded by the beauty of the natural world. Furthermore, Al had a vast career as a welder, maintenance in chain restaurants as well as owning and operating Unique Auto and loved to stay busy by tinkering with things and staying productive. 

Al will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Nancy Louise Haley-Olcott. His son, Jack Paul Johnson, daughter, Rebecca Anne Phillips (Joseph), beloved grandchildren, Hannah Renee Olcott, Jackson Allan Johnson, and Henry Paul Johnson.

Al leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and generosity. His presence brought light into the lives of those around him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.

A visitation will be held on October 21, 2023, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Smith Family Funeral Home in Hot Springs. A Celebration of Life ceremony will follow at 11:00 AM at the same location.

Honorary pallbearers are Beth Tyrrell and Todd Tyrrell.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
