Stephen Vincent Pruss, Sr

Stephen Vincent Pruss, Sr., age 86, of the Marche community in North Little Rock, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

Born to Vincent and Josephine Pruss, Stephen carried a deep pride in his Polish heritage throughout his life. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where his faith remained a steady foundation and source of strength.

Stephen was a hardworking man who dedicated 46 years of service to the Union Pacific Railroad.

Outside of work, he found great joy in music.

He was a talented musician.

His band, “The Kings Men” played music for Polish weddings, dances, Oktoberfest celebrations, the German American Club, and events throughout Arkansas. His music brought people together and kept cherished traditions alive.

He also had a lifelong passion for cars and was a “Ford man” through and through. Stephen especially loved Mustangs, spending many years collecting, restoring, and selling them—a hobby that brought him great pride and enjoyment.

Stephen is survived by his wife of 26 years, Meta Pruss; his children, Cheryl Johnson, Linda Horton, Stephen Pruss, Jr., Melonie Taylor; his grandchildren, Paulette Bane, Gabriel Guerin, Jared Johnson, Beth Conn, Kolby Black, and Kody Pruss; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Phillip, Frances, Dorothy, and Daniel; and his daughter, Cherokie Smith.

A service celebrating his life will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Visitation at 1:30 PM on Monday, April 27, 2026 at the church. The funeral is at 2:00 PM.

The family sends many thanks to all the caregivers and friends at The Lakes at Maumelle, especially his side-kick, LaDonna (Cookie), who always called him Pops.
