Steven David (Dave) Roff was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma on August 11, 1950 and passed away on April 10, 2020. He is survived by his wife and best friend of nearly 48 years, Donnell, along with their son, Stewart and daughter-in-law Carrie Roff. Other surviving family members include David Toon, Jeannie Schneeberger, Kelly and Michelle Stewart; Doug, Shelly, Sydney and Sara Allmon; Chris, Emily and Addison Smith; Elizabeth Conant and Steven Toon.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Claudine Davidson Roff and father Fred Pierce Roff.
Dave retired with the rank of Major from the US Army, having served 21 years in the Military Police Corps. After three months, Dave decided he’d had enough of “retirement” and went to work for the Arkansas Insurance Department. He retired from the Insurance Department with more than 26 years’ service.
Big Dave (as he was known) cut an intimidating figure. But those who knew him soon learned he was just a big teddy bear. He loved to spend time with Donnell, travel, read, cook ribs, fish and root for his Oklahoma Sooners. He also spoiled Joe and Bob, his two dog buddies who spent so much time lounging in his lap.
Dave will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
No memorial is scheduled. During this strange time of Covid 19, when so many are in need, we know Big Dave would appreciate any donation you might be able to make to the AR Foodbank.
