Sybol Ann Johnston

Sybol Ann Wood Johnston, 91, of North Little Rock, peacefully passed away on January 26, 2024. She was born June 2, 1932 in Little Rock to the late Johnnie and Clora Wood.

In addition to her parents, Sybol is preceded in death by her younger brother Bobby; her husband, Earl (Gene) Johnston and her beloved granddaughter Chandra West Loomis.

Sybol is survived by her daughter, Judy West; grandson James West; great-grandchildren (of Chandra) Pierce, Kalinda and Raina Loomis and James’ son Carter; her son, Rickie Johnston; her brother Ronnie Wood; nieces, Rhonda (Tommy) Huston and Shannon (Dennis) Bayles; grand nephews and nieces, Hayden Huston, Blake Keane, Anna Pattillo and Lendzi Bayles.

Sybol will be loving remembered for her generous, caring and nurturing ways. Sybol spent much of her adult life as a caregiver for her grandmother, father, mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, her husband, Gene and her son-in-law. She gave all her time, effort and love to their care and support through illness and subsequent deaths of those she loved.

Sybols husband, Gene, a North Little Rock Police Officer for 29 years and Sybol spent many hours at the NLR FOP Lodge, meeting new police officers and their families. Sybol made many friends as she welcomed them into the police family, giving them support, advice and comfort of heart and mind.

Upon becoming empty nesters, Sybol and Gene spent much of their leisure time traveling in their trailer. A favorite yearly trip was the Municipal Police Association meetings where friends from all over the state gathered for meetings. Lots of fun was had by all. One of the most anticipated events was a huge pot of beans and homemade cornbread cooked by Sybol for whoever stopped by!

Sybol will be greatly missed by many, remembered by all; a small piece of her will remain in many hearts and minds.

Honorary Pallbearers will be; Tommy Huston, Hayden Huston, Dennis Bayles, Blake Keane, Pierce Loomis and Chris Stanton.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Edgewood Memorial Park.
