Sylvia Sue Freeman, 83, of Sherwood, Arkansas Born January 25, 1942, passed away September 14, 2025. She was born in Little Rock, AR.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her daughter, Helen; her parents, Sarah and Earnest; her brothers, Raymond, Ralph, Tim, Bobby, Billy, and Harold; and her sisters, Margie, Kathy, and Linda. She is survived by two sisters, Laverne and Mary, and one brother, Danny; four sons, Harvey, Larry, Curtis, and Michael; three daughters, Kayla, Amber, and Shawna; twelve grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was the sixth child among fifteen brothers and sisters. You can imagine all the stories she could tell, but throughout the years, there was one story Sylvia told many times over—one from around 1955, when she was a young girl. She heard about the Holy Ghost for the first time from a neighbor she and her siblings affectionately called Granny Davis. She had followed one of her siblings to her home one day and overheard Granny Davis sharing the Word of God. She told them that Jesus had died on the cross and shed His blood for them so they could forever live in Heaven. This never left Sylvia, and from that point forward, she knew she was going to be a Holy Ghost–filled saint of God.
Sylvia kept her word and was dedicated to the Lord—a Holy Ghost–filled, tongue-talking prayer warrior. She gave all of her heart to Him but also devoted herself to her family. From the very beginning, she stepped into a role that no one else could fill when she didn’t have to. She picked up the broken pieces of her family, not realizing that she would be the glue, the centerpiece for so many to look up to. She held her family together until the end. Her life was about sacrifice and putting others’ needs before her own.
Mamaw was a constant source of light, strength, and unconditional love for her family. With a heart of gold, she faithfully shared her wisdom, prayers, and honest guidance, always pointing others toward God and the importance of integrity, kindness, and family values. She will always be loved and forever cherished in our hearts.
