Teddy Leon Hill Sr. passed from this life into Eternity on Thursday, the 28th of May. He was born on July 21st, 1937, in Dierks, AR, to Henry Lee Hill and Ruby Jewell Johnston Hill. His grandmother, Louella Johnston helped raise Teddy.
Their family moved from Howard County to Garland County when Teddy was about 4 years old. He grew up on a farm on Pittman Road. He bought and traded dogs, goats, calves, and horses, all his life. He liked to cook, so he became a chef and worked in restaurants in Hot Springs. He worked early mornings on local thoroughbred horse farms, breaking and taming race horses. He raised Border Collies, and competed in stock dog trials in Arkansas and other states. He was President of the Central Arkansas Stock Dog Association for many years. He loved to entertain kids and grownups with slight-of-hand coin tricks. He taught his children, grandchildren, and several other young people the importance of hard work and dedication to your job. His family taught him a very strong work ethic.
Teddy is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Margie Weatherford Hill; his daughter, Lajuan (Chuck) Young; his son, Teddy Hill Jr; Son, Lennon (Cyndi) Hill; Daughter, Lana Owen; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; Sisters, Marcelle Green of Hot Springs, Evelyn Mansholt of Grand Prairie, TX, Daisy McHenry of Monroe, LA, Linda (Dean) Estoll of Hot Springs Villiage, AR; Brother, Paul Bruce Hill of Grand Prairie, TX.
He is preceded in death by a grandson; Father, Henry Hill; Mother, Ruby Ritchey; stepdad, Ernest Ritchey; sisters, Bonnie Locker of California, Violet Burks or Malvern, AR, Flossie Fite of Malvern, AR, and Maxine Williams of Hot Springs, AR; brother, Roy Ritchey
Services will be held on June 2, 2026, at Smith Family Funeral home in Hot Springs, AR. A visitation will be held at 1:00PM with a funeral service to follow immediatley afterward.
Teddy Hill Sr. led a life of commitment to his family and career. He brought joy to those who knew him and will be greatly missed.
