Thecia Jeanette Taylor passed away on October 4, 2024. She was born on July 15, 1937 in LaPorte, Texas to Henry and Anna Pond. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Sister Celestine Pond and Louis Pond and former husband Dr. Robert C. Power. She was the widow of Donald Taylor, DDS. She is survived by her brother Joseph Pond, daughter Renee Power and son Robert Power; grandchildren Brady Power and Patrick Power; nephews, Greg Pond, Peter Pond, James Pond; nieces, Linda Pond, Jennifer Moore, Barbara Pond.

Thecia became a registered nurse in 1971 and retired as Registered Nurse Emeritus in 2007 from Doctors Hospital. She spent many years in the emergency department at Doctors Hospital serving the community as an RN. Thecia volunteered hundreds of hours at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock. She also spent years volunteering with the Arkansas Chapter of Partners of the Americas earning the 40th Lifetime Achievement Award. She served as treasurer, president and was on the board of directors. Together with her husband Dr. Taylor, many foreign friends and associates were hosted in their home to further the cultural alliance between Arkansas and East Bolivia. 

Thecia seemed to be looking for the next adventure in life. She became a certified scuba diver, certified by her daughter, Renee. She enjoyed white water rafting, camping, international travel with her children, and island hopping on windjammer cruises.

A celebration of life will be on October 26, 2024 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct, Little Rock. Thecia will be honored by Arkansas Nurses Honor Guard.
